Family Service

|
5th June 2011
There has always been the need to answer questions on "worship with young people"
The regular adult congregation have grown up with many different versions of the current Communion service.
There has and will always be a need to update language and style of worship.
You can have a High Mass with "smells and bells" Worship with full choir and lots of words, or a service with lots of silence and in a contemplative style.
St Thomas church has not been slow in offering all these styles of worship to answer our current needs and for those who are new to the Anglican tradition
Work with our young families offer opportunity to explore new forms of worship and to help them appreciate what we have been handed down.
The need to offer contemporary worship is important not only for the regular congregation but for the health of the whole body of the church family
The first Sunday of the month give us an opportunity to bring young families into the worshipping life of St Thomas Church
The language is clear and the style is simple. We have tried to tailor the worship to be interactive and to involve as many of our families at the front as possible.
Choruses with actions may not be traditional but it gives us some exercise and breaks down some of the barriers for new people.
The underlying context is to help everyone to experience worship as a central act in their lives and to offer to God who we are and what we want to become.
Come along on the first Sunday at 10am and find friendship and community at St Thomas church
